What is aerial mapping? Aerial mapping is used to conduct map plotting through imaging and data gathering from above through aerial methods. In ancient days, cartography used the known distance between places and landmarks to plan triangulation before the map illustrates the location. As such, the accuracy of antique maps is expected to be insufficient for everyday use due to the absence and lack of information (contour, coordinates, mass landforms). Advancement in aerial technology has assisted us in viewing the world from another angle, an angle much closer to plan view as plotted on paper to illustrate our earth. Both photography and LiDAR technology have since brought us to a new frontier in mapping today’s modern world.
